The FAS3270 scales to 960 drives, offering 1,920 terabytes of capacity per system. The model have extensive onboard Fibre Channel (FC) and Gigabit Ethernet connectivity, which can be augmented using embedded PCI Express (PCIe) and PCI-X expansion slots, and integrated remote LAN management.

The unified storage architecture of the FAS3270 eliminates the need to deploy multiple systems to address requirements for block and file storage. The cost of hard disk drives can be cut in half by using SATA drives instead of Fibre Channel drives.
